Wow - life really does have its ups and downs doesn't it?

It is such a big journey from primary school to high school and along the way you might have worries - about lots of things – big and small.

Maybe you get worried about exams or homework …. maybe some days things get tricky with friends … or you find yourself feeling left out, sad or angry. Maybe there are hard things to cope with at home – like dealing with illness or our parents not getting along. Any of these things can make it all feel “too much”. Then you might want to hide away – or wish for a magical wand to make it all disappear!

It may come as a surprise, but adults also suffer from worry and sadness. Strong emotions, whatever your age, can become so big that they begin to interfere with enjoying life. The funny thing is, that when you are feeling sad, tense or worried, it can feel like you’re the only one who’s feeling like this. But the truth is that everyone feels this way at times, even if they pretend they don’t!

However the good news is that there are many ways to calm yourself down, and get those big emotions to shrink and feel happier. For example talking to yourself kindly really works – this is a bit like having the best imaginary friend ever! Being in nature helps, as does doing things you love … getting exercise … and finding creative ways to relax. There are also proven techniques that can speed up calming down and feeling better … and they are techniques you can learn easily!

So we’re inviting you for a day of fun and relaxing activities, to help you learn to cope with big emotions and pressures in your life … and learn those calming down techniques. We can't promise a magic wand, but we do think it will be good fun, friendly and a chance to learn a bit more about yourself. We will be doing some yoga, relaxation, meditation, art work and spending time out in nature. Through it all you’ll be learning how to transform tricky emotions, let negative thoughts float away and find calmness in yourself. Really hope you want to come along!
